Autumn Statement: Marketers’ reactions

 

Last week Chancellor George Osborne announced the government’s Autumn Statement, putting SMEs at the centre of measures to stimulate economic growth. While lending to small businesses is set to increase, questions have already been raised over the government’s proposed £21bn programme of cheap loans.

Initial reactions to the statement are mixed; a fuel duty freeze promises to bring some relief to consumers, but there are concerns over how the programme will be policed and how the measures will benefit mid-sized businesses.

While the impact of the changes will not be felt immediately, we’ve spoken to brand decision-makers for a view on how marketing strategies may shift over the coming months. We’ve spoken to a number of SMEs across the UK.
