Despite a trend for companies increasingly offering Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), recent research by Canada Life suggests nine out of ten employees feel they're not presented with support from their employer when struggling with personal problems. As tough economic conditions make it more important than ever before to maintain an effective workforce, benefits suppliers are pitching EAPs as a way to boost staff engagement and reduce absenteeism.
We spoke with five businesses that have been noted for having outstanding working environments, and listed in The Telegraph's Top Employers 2012, to explore the extent to which EAPs fit into today's benefits mix.
